Our Client; A specialist risk-engineering consultancy based in the North West is continuing to grow its structural engineering team. The business is recognised for its expertise in extreme loads and blast engineering, delivering complex protective design solutions for high-profile projects across the UK and internationally.

The current project portfolio includes work on:
• Major sports stadia
• Large-scale events and entertainment venues
• Strategic rail and transport infrastructure projects
• Defence and secure government facilities

As part of ongoing expansion, the consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer who is keen to progress technically and professionally within a collaborative and supportive environment. The Role As a key member of the engineering team, you will be involved in the delivery of complex structural and protective design projects. Key responsibilities include:
• Engaging with clients to help define project requirements, influence design outcomes and present technical solutions
• Working closely with project design teams to develop protective and resilient design strategies
• Delivering retained and novated design duties on design-and-build projects, including performance specifications, compliance monitoring and site attendance
• Supporting Tier 1, 2 and 3 contractors to ensure construction works comply with project specifications
• Collaborating with manufacturers to support the design and development of new products
• Managing workloads to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard
• Undertaking and supervising detailed structural calculations using linear and non-linear methods, including hand calculations, finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics
• Completing vehicle dynamics assessments in support of hostile vehicle mitigation design
• Mentoring and supporting graduate and project-level engineers

About You:The successful candidate will typically demonstrate:
• A degree in civil or structural engineering, or a background in applied physics
• Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStructE), or experience aligned with achieving chartership
• Experience working with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions
• Strong technical knowledge of steel and concrete design to Eurocodes and/or UFC 3-340-02
• An understanding of the commercial aspects of project delivery
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Willingness and ability to undergo UK security vetting to SC level (or above)

Desirable (but not essential):
• Experience in blast, seismic or other dynamic analysis
• Non-linear finite element analysis and/or CFD
• Structural design using aluminium or glass
• Hostile vehicle mitigation design
